Well, we survived Trip #1. April Staff Training trip can go down in history as a success.
Landon actually did really well in the car and slept a decent amount of the trip and seemed content watching High School Musical for the rest of it (as long as we skipped the long sections of no songs). No major bouts of screaming from him. Layla did pretty well stretching her feeding times. As we were rolling into town yesterday she was starting to get pretty fussy, but overall she did well. This successful 5 hour trip gives me some hope for driving to Gulf Shores, but I still think it's going to be a loooooong couple of days. Especially when we're talking 6 hour+ trips for 3 days in a row. Yikes.
We had a fabulous time at AST though. Landon enjoyed "helping" Daddy unload the luggage
In typical boy fashion he also wanted to play with the remote to the TV in the hotel room.
Thankfully we got two hotel rooms that opened up to each other this year so Landon was able to sleep in his pack n play in his own room, so he actually slept extremely well. He also seemed to really love the childcare, especially the first few days. So many other kids to play with, new activities to do (playdough!) and lots of babysitters who just loved hanging out with him. The first couple of days when we went down to the rooms he bolted away right into the rooms to play without so much as a goodbye wave. By the last day though he was getting pretty clingy and not excited to be left there. I like to think he was missing being with me by the 4th day.
Layla also did great. She and I chilled with 3 other moms and their babies in the back of the room for all the training sessions. I still got to participate and even take notes for most of them, so I'm grateful Layla was cooperative. Unfortunately it meant she did a lot of this
Sleeping in her carseat in the stroller next to me. But she did great.
At night she slept in this infant travel bed
Short infomercial: This travel bed was AWESOME! We only have one pack n play, so rather than buy a new one or try to borrow one from someone and have another huge item in our van, we just got this travel bed instead and she slept great in it for just a few nights. Seriously, if you are a mom of an infant (or will be someday) and do any amount of traveling at all, you should get one. You can order it here. And p.s. I think it's way better than the travel bassinet they have at Target right now. It looks like it folds up smaller and is less bulky when you set it up. Plus it comes with a washable sheet.
Ok, end of infomercial. We had a great trip and Kyle and I learned sooooo much, but we're glad to be home (at least for a few nights). And guess what beautiful little girl was so excited to sleep in her own bed that she went to sleep at 8:30 last night and slept till 8:00 this morning?
Yup, that little beauty right there. I'll be ok if you want to make that the new trend Layla. (Although I did go in at 6:00 a.m. to make sure she was still breathing...slightly worried me there)
Come back tomorrow for Layla's two month post! She turns two months today but we have her dr. appt tomorrow to get her stats.
