This past weekend we successfully completed our second trip to Kansas City. Landon didn't sleep a wink the whole way there even though it was his nap time. On the way home we drove through terrifyingly heavy rain for the first 30-40 minutes. But on the bright side, the sound of the rain put Landon to sleep in less than 10 minutes and he slept for the whole rest of the trip.
While in KC Landon & Layla got to see ALL of their cousins! Kyle's sister April, her husband Cory, and their two girls Addyson & Lydia drove down from Iowa to meet Layla for the first time.
They were very excited to hold Layla for the first time, and Layla was so excited to meet them!
Lydia also wanted to hold Landon. That one didn't work quite as well...
My sister Mandy, her husband Travis, and their daughter Alycen also came over for dinner Saturday night (they live in KC). Alycen also enjoyed holding Layla and giving her kisses. She was convinced Layla was smiling in this picture =)
After dinner we rounded up all the kiddos and took our best attempt at photographing all of them together. Naturally, there were no pictures of all of them smiling, but at least in this one they're looking in the general direction of the camera.
My sister is having another baby in less than a month and it's another girl, so Landon has LOTS of girls in his life!
Here's how Alycen felt by the end of the photo shoot:
Then we took some pictures of Papa & Nana with all four of their grandchildren
We had a great time! We also got to go to the wedding of one of our staff guys on Sunday afternoon which was beautiful. And Landon also enjoyed Papa & Nana's pool:
That is until I decided he needed to try learning how to go under water. He came up WAILING and so distraught. Oops. I earned some bad mom points for that one.
Then yesterday my parents came up for a short 24 hour trip so they could see
Landon & Layla all of us one last time before we leave for Kaleo next week.
My mom and I made a trip to WalMart to stock up on some activities/movies to entertain Landon on our drive down to Gulf Shores (Gnomeo & Juliet will be making a comeback. Oh dear). We got to go for a nice long walk last night because the weather was just gorgeous, and then today took advantage of the still pretty weather to take some pictures outside. Landon even smiled!
Then he got Grandpa in a choke hold!!!
We are blessed with wonderful families and we'll miss them so much while we're in Gulf Shores. Hooray for Skype!
